Cape Town - World number two Jordan Spieth has a chance to join an elite group of players when he tees off at the PGA Championships next week.

The Texan could join Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Tiger Woods, Ben Hogan and Gene Sarazen as players who have earned a career grand slam by winning all four majors if he lifts the silverware next Sunday.

While Spieth is fresh off his stunning Open Championship win, he revealed he is in the sport for the long run and a patient man almost always gets what he wants.

"The PGA, if I'm healthy and playing well, I'll play in 30 of them," the 24-year-old told Reuters.

"I believe I'll have plenty of chances to win. It doesn't have to be this year. I believe I'll do it someday, so if it happens next week, fantastic. If it doesn't it's not going to be a big-time bummer.

"Getting three legs of it is much harder than getting the last leg, I think, though it's easy for me to say."

Spieth is part of the star-studded field teeing off at WGC Bridgestone Invitational on Thursday, where he is seeking his first WGC title.
