Oosthuizen cashes in on FedEx Cup money

Cape Town - South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen has more than seven million 'Rand' reasons to smile after his T21st finish at the PGA Tour's Tour Championship on Sunday.

Oosthuizen was the only South African to have qualified for the season finale at East Lake in Atlanta, Georgia.

The 2010 Open Championship winner was rewarded with $478 000 (R7.3 million) for his finish.

Oosthuizen carded a final round of 70 to end on 1-over par - 18 shots behind FedEx Cup champion, Rory McIlroy.

In the 2018/19 PGA Tour season, Oosthuizen played in 19 events, making 16 cuts and secured five Top 10 finishes.

His best performance was a runner-up finish at the Valspar Championship in March.

Meanwhile, South Africa's Dylan Frittelli was awarded $150 000 (R2.2m) for finishing 63rd in the FedEx Cup and Branden Grace received $110 000 (R1.6m) after his 77th finish.

Frittelli is the only South African to have won on the PGA Tour this season after claiming the John Deere Classic title in July.
