Moore leads weather-hit John Deere

Los Angeles - Ryan Moore battled through the fading light to shoot his third consecutive six-under 65 and grab a one-shot lead after the third round of the weather-hit John Deere Classic on Saturday.

Moore has a slight lead on fellow Americans Morgan Hoffman and Ben Martin after firing a pair of 65s on Saturday and finishing in the dark on a marathon day that got the tournament back on schedule.

"It was solid. I capitalised on the shots that I did get around the holes. I scrambled and made decent putts. It just added up to a good round," Moore said.

Martin and Hoffman both shot third round 62s at the Deere Run course in Silvis, Illinois.

Moore was at 18-under 195 after his third round as he seeks his first PGA Tour win since defending a title in the 2014 CIMB Classic. He has made just two bogeys this week.

Martin birdied his first five holes and four of his last five. He sank a 44-foot putt on the final hole to finish his bogey-free round.

His lone career PGA Tour win came at the 2014 Shriners Hospital for Children Open.

Hoffman, who is seeking his first victory, also played bogey free and birdied six straight holes through No. 16.

Johnson Wagner birdied three of the last five holes to shoot 67 and was four shots back in solo fourth.

South Korea's Kim Whee birdied the last five holes to shoot 64 and was five behind in a tie for fifth with Kelly Kraft, who had a 67, and second round leader Wesley Bryan, who made a double-bogey six on the 15th hole and finished with a 70.

Play was delayed for more than three hours on Thursday when 2.5cm (one inch) of rain fell. The start was delayed for five hours Friday as Moore and several others did not hit a shot after an overnight storm dumped another six centimetres on the course.
