Cape Town - Brooks Koepka was undoubtedly the man of the 2018 majors, scoring brilliant wins in the US Open at Shinnecock Hills and the PGA Championship at Bellerive.

However, according to the Golf365 website, he wouldn’t have won an unofficial award called the Majors Cup - the accolade for the golfer who shot the lowest aggregate score over the four majors.

Koepka had to miss the Masters in April due to injury and scores are only counted for those who played in all 16 rounds in the 2018 majors.

This year, there were just 11 of them - five Europeans, five Americans and an Australian.

The man who took fewest total shots - one thousand, one hundred and twenty to be precise - was England’s Justin Rose.

Best scores in relation to par across all four majors in 2018:

-12 Justin Rose (-6, +7, -6, -7)
-11 Rickie Fowler (-14, +11, E, -8)
-9 Tony Finau (-7, +5, -4, -3)
-9 Tommy Fleetwood (-4, +2, -3, -4)
-8 Francesco Molinari (-2, +12, -8, -10)
-5 Webb Simpson (-2, +7, -3, -7)
+1 Zach Johnson (+2, +8, -2, -7)
+4 Xander Schauffele (+8, +6, -6, -4)
+5 Tyrrell Hatton (+4, +6, +4, -9)
+14 Marc Leishman (-8, +15, +5, +2)
+15 Rafa Cabrera Bello (+3, +13, +8, -9)

Rose’s finishes of T12 at the Masters (-6), T10 at the US Open (+7), T2 at The Open (-6) and T19 at the PGA Championship (-7) represented a fine year and he and American Webb Simpson were the only players this season to finish in the top 20 at all four majors.
