Dunked ... Fowler makes a splash

Cape Town - Defending PLAYERS Championship champion Rickie Fowler had a tournament to forget at the TPC Sawgrass this past weekend.

Rounds of 72 and 71 saw the world No 5 miss the cut in Florida.

However, Fowler took his misfortune on the chin - and turned to Instagram to make light of his "many" shots that found a watery grave.

The iconic par-3 17th hole claimed 36 victims over the four rounds - which is still a far cry from the incredible 93 balls in the water back in 2007.
