Dufner sparks Twitter trend

Los Angeles - US golfer Jason Dufner's laid-back lounging at a charity youth centre visit sparked a Twitter trend on Friday as his fellow pros - and a host of others - posted pictures of themselves "Dufnering".

"What can I say, I was tired, my back hurt from sitting on the floor, and we were talking about relaxation and focusing," Dufner tweeted after the picture of him lolling on the floor with a group of children became a social media sensation.

Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy was among the many to tweet a picture of himself sprawled in a "Dufnering" pose.

"It's the best thing ever," McIlroy enthused of Dufnering after firing a second-round 70 at the Houston Open on Friday.

US golfer Keegan Bradley had posted the picture of Dufner on Twitter on Thursday evening.

Luke Donald Dufnered, as did fellow English golfer Ian Poulter. Bradley, Brandt Snedeker and Dustin Johnson posted a picture of themselves Dufnering together at the golf course.

LPGA golfer Paula Creamer got in on the act, posting a picture of herself on Twitter Dufnering in the shade of a bougainvilla, a stuffed Pink Panther Dufnering right alongside her.

"I've never had so much entertainment," McIlroy said. "I was on my own last night in the room and just going through things. The laughs, it's just so much."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
