The 6 SA golfers at the 100th PGA Championship

Cape Town - The 100th PGA Championship at the Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis tees off on Thursday.

There will be six South Africans in the field at this year's final major.

Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Branden Grace, Brandon Stone, Dylan Frittelli and Justin Harding will fly the SA flag at the tournament.

Sport24 takes a closer look at the six golfers:

Louis Oosthuizen

Age - 35

World ranking - 34

Best PGA - T2

Oosthuizen heads into the US Open as the top-ranked South African golfer.

The 2010 Open Championship winner came close to clinching his second Major title last year at Quail Hollow when he finished tied for second - two strokes adrift of champion Justin Thomas.

Last year's second place in Charlotte saw Oosthuizen complete a Grand Slam of runner-up finishes in all four majors.

He tees off in Round 1 alongside Belgium's Thomas Pieters and American Bill Haas at 20:59 SA time.

Charl Schwartzel

Age - 33

World ranking - 52

Best PGA - T12

Schwartzel has been struggling for consistent performances of late this season.

The 2011 Masters champion has only had three Top 10 finishes in 16 tournaments this season.

Schwartzel, who missed the cut at Carnoustie, will be hoping to bounce back at this year's final Major.

He tees off in Round 1 alongside Dane Thorbjorn Olesen and American Patrick Cantlay at 20:32 SA time.

Branden Grace

Age - 30

World ranking - 36

Best PGA - 3rd

Grace has had a solid season thus far, only missing one cut - at the Open at Carnoustie - in 16 events.

Grace will be hoping to regain some form ahead of the business end of the PGA and European Tour seasons.

The South African will start Round 1 alongside Americans Stewart Cink and Ryan Moore at 15:45 SA time.

Dylan Frittelli

Age - 28

World ranking - 62

Best PGA - T63

Frittelli has had a decent season after his breakthrough year in 2017 on the PGA and European Tour.

However, the South African has struggled to perform in Majors - failing to make the cut in all three this year.

Frittelli will tee off in the opening round with Irishman Paul Dunne and American JB Holmes at 15:29 SA time.

Brandon Stone

Age - 25

World ranking - 110

Best PGA - Missed cut

Stone had a gruesome season - missing 9 cuts in 15 tournaments - before his remarkable Scottish Open triumph last month on the European Tour.

The South African's win in Scotland saw him receive a special invitation to Bellerive Country Club this week.

Stone will play alongside American Johan Kok and Korea's Kim Whee in Round 1 at 19:20 SA time.

Justin Harding

Age - 32

World ranking - 101

Best PGA - Debut

Harding has had a stellar season on the Sunshine and Asian Tour - racking up four wins this year!

Harding will play his first ever Major in St Louis this week and will hope to continue his ever-improving form.

He will tee off in the opening round alongside American duo Omar Uresti and Andrew Landy at 21:21 SA time.
