According to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle on Sunday, The PGA Championship has been rescheduled for 6-9 August after being postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The paper claims the new date has already been agreed, with the event set to remain at San Francisco's Harding Park course.

When asked for comment, the PGA of America, which manages the championship, did not immediately respond.

The PGA Championship was originally scheduled for 14-17 May, but it was announced on 17 March that it had been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The news came just a few days after Augusta National announced that the first major championship of the year, the Masters, had been postponed.

The US Open, scheduled for Winged Foot in New York from 18-21 June, and the 16-19 July Open Championship at Royal St George's in Kent, are still officially on the schedule.

An announcement on the postponement of the US Open is expected in the coming days, while the R&A announced last Thursday it was holding off on making a decisive call on The Open for the time being.

"We are continuing to work through our options for The Open this year, including postponement," R&A chief executive Martin Slumbers said in a statement.

"Due to a range of external factors, that process is taking some time to resolve."
