Grace: I feel I can win a major

Johannesburg - After doing well in yet another major championship, finishing tied for fourth in the PGA Championship, Branden Grace feels he is not too far off from winning one of the big tournaments.

The 28-year-old South African has been a constant in the majors of late with four top-five finishes in his last seven majors to go along with his 11 professional wins.

He has been steadily climbing up the official world golf rankings and is now in 10th place.

In this past weekend’s PGA Championship, Grace finished at nine-under-par to be tied in fourth place along with Hideki Matsuyama of Japan and America's Brooks Koepka, five shots behind tournament winner Jimmy Walker on 14 under.

In an interview afterwards, the South African said he was getting more and more confident with each major that he plays and feels he is quite capable of winning one himself going forward.

"I feel I'm progressing pretty nicely," said Grace. "I think I'm getting more confident as the Majors go on.

"It was a little bit tough. I was a little bit disappointed with The Open this year. I thought I played some decent golf but it wasn't one of those golf courses that really suited me. I couldn't get my eye around the place.

"I came here this week, I thought this is a place I can do well. I played great the first day, was just unlucky, maybe that cost me.

"When I tee it up now, I feel I can win a major. If you are coming into a major with that mindset, you know you are going to do well."
