Cape Town - Australia's Jason Day has won the 97th PGA Championship at Whistling Straits.
Day finished on a score of 20-under par for his maiden Major victory - and a cheque for $1.8 million.
Jordan Spieth, who won this year's Masters and US Open, finished in second place, three strokes behind.
South Africa's Branden Grace finished in third place, a further two shots behind.
Rory McIlroy, who returned to action this week after an ankle injury layoff, finished alone in 17th place on 9-under.
McIlroy's finish, coupled with Spieth's runner-up spot, saw the American move to No 1 in the world.
The year's other Major, the Open Championship at St Andrews, was won by the USA's Zach Johnson.
