The victory was Woods' first Major title since his 2008 US Open win, as he clinched a one-stroke victory - and picked up a fifth green jacket.
Player, who is a three-time Masters champion, took to Twitter to congratulate Woods and stated that his win was "great for the game of golf".
"It has been a long & uncertain journey of 14 years since your last Green Jacket. A monumental challenge. For most an impossible task. But not for you," wrote Player.
"Congratulations Tiger. So special for you & your family. So great for the game of golf. Simply unbelievable."
