Bezuidenhout earns Masters spot as November field confirmed

South Africa's Christiaan Bezuidenhout will make his debut appearance at the rescheduled Masters at Augusta National in November.

Augusta National has identified 12-15 November as the intended dates to host the tournament following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

Players inside the Top 50 of the world golf rankings on 30 March, who had not already qualified, all secured trips to Georgia.

Bezuidenhout, who is 47th in the World Golf Rankings, joined US Open champion Graeme McDowell and American duo Collin Morikawa and Scottie Scheffler to make the final 96-man field.

Despite now being the final major of the year, an Augusta National spokesperson told Golf Channel that they "would not be adding players to the field between now and the November event".

Bezuidenhout won his maiden European Tour title last year at the Andalucia Masters and earlier this year the 25-year-old sealed his second Sunshine Tour victory at the Dimension Data Pro-Am at Fancourt.

There will now be seven South Africans competing at this year's Masters.

They are 2008 Masters champion Trevor Immelman, 2011 Masters champion Charl SchwartzelJustin HardingLouis OosthuizenDylan Frittelli, Erik van Rooyen and Bezuidenhout.

Bezuidenhout and Van Rooyen will be making their debut appearances at Augusta National.
