Golf's European Open returns

Virginia Water - The European Open is returning in 2015 after a six-year absence from the European Tour's schedule.

The tournament will be staged at the Hartl Resoirt in Bad Griesbach, Germany, from 24-27 September and will carry a prize fund of €2 million.

The European Open was first held in 1978 and most recently staged at the London Golf Club in 2009.

It has never been played in continental Europe.

Bernhard Langer, Greg Norman, Ian Woosnam, Nick Faldo, Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke are among the former winners of the tournament.

It will be the second European Tour event staged in Germany in 2015, along with the BMW International Open.
