Cape Town - Four Western Province Nomads will be playing 15 rounds of golf at 15 different courses over five days in December - all in the name of charity.
Starting at Atlantic Beach and finishing at Westlake GC, the foursome of Carl Potgieter, Brent Lyall, Werner Theart and Rob Larsen have set themselves a lofty goal: raising R500 000 for the Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa (CHOC).
The 'Golfing Moo's' as they have been dubbed, will play three rounds per day - at 05:30, 10:00 and 14:30 - using a golf cart for only one of the rounds and walking the other 36 holes.
Dubbed the '15 on 15 in 5 Challenge' the charity initiative will see the foursome play a staggering 270 holes in just five days.
Members of the public are encouraged not only to pledge monetary support, but also join the Moo's during any of their rounds to offer support.

Who are The Nomads? Nomads is an international golf club that was established in South Africa in 1960. There are 12 clubs across South Africa and clubs in Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. One of the objectives is to raise funds for ‘those less fortunate than ourselves.’ One of the things that binds Nomads together is the collective spirit displayed by all members. Since inception Nomads has raised in excess of R50 million for various beneficiaries.
Who are The Cows? The Cows were started in 2008 by a group of eight enthusiastic cyclists keen to make a difference by raising funds for the CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation. The founder members joined Kerrin and Grant Bain in cycling the 947 Cycle Challenge in memory of their 20-month-old daughter, Jessica, who they had lost to cancer. As CHOC had played a significant role in the Bain family's life, the decision was to make CHOC the sole beneficiary of their quest. They decided to don cow suits (because that was the only animal suit they could hire 8 of!) and they succeeded in raising R230K. The Cows have just broken through the R32 million mark of funds raised for specific projects implemented by CHOC, and The Cows brand is prominent in many sporting events in South Africa. With these funds, CHOC is able to make a difference to the children with cancer throughout South Africa.
