Cape Town - Zimbabwe have appointed Lalchand Rajput as their new interim coach as a replacement for ousted former coach Heath Streak.
The news was confirmed by Cricket Zimbabwe on Thursday.
Rajput, 56, is a former international cricketer for India and, up until this year, he had been the coach of the Afghanistan national team.
He was also the Indian team manager when they won the ICC World Twenty20 in 2007 and was coach of the Mumbai Indians in the IPL after that.
A tweet from Zimbabwe Cricket described Rajput as a "highly qualified, vastly experienced and well-respected coach".
Under Streak, Zimbabwe failed to qualify for next year's Cricket World Cup in England and that is what ultimately cost him his job.
