Cape Town - Zimbabwe Cricket have announced their new head coach of the national side as they look to turn their fortunes around.
Following the disappointment of failing to qualify for the 2019 Cricket World Cup in England, Zimbabwe parted ways with Heath Streak as coach in a move that raised eyebrows in the cricketing community.
Now, the struggling African side has placed its faith in former Indian batsman, Lalchand Rajput.
The 56-year-old played just two Tests and four ODIs for India between 1985 and 1987, but since then he has been heavily involved in coaching.
He was the manager of the Indian national side that won the T20 World Championship in South Africa while he has also coached the Mumbai Indians and the Afghanistan national side.
Rajput was appointed as Zimbabwe's interim head coach in May, but he now takes on the role full-time.
