Cape Town - Eastern Cape Cricket has announced the appointment of Rivash Gobind as head coach of the Warriors franchise.

As a player Gobind represented KwaZulu-Natal, the Dolphins and South Africa Under-19 and he also captained both KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa Under-19.

He has a Masters in Business Administration and is a certified level 3 coach.

In 2012, Gobind was appointed assistant coach of the Dolphins under Lance Klusener, and helped the side win the 2013/14 Ram Slam T20 Challenge.

He was the head coach of the Dolphins teams for the last six weeks of the 2015/16 Sunfoil Series.

In August 2016, Gobind was appointed assistant coach of the Warriors, where he led the Warriors as the interim coach on Malibongwe Maketa’s call-up to the Proteas side.

As the interim coach Gobind has overseen the Warriors sharing the One Day Cup trophy and outperform previous years’ achievements to finish runners-up in the Sunfoil Series.

The Warriors, like the five other franchises, are now on a break before they reconvene for the pre-season ahead of the 2018/19 season.
