Cape Town - England cricketer Ben Stokes has been warned by English authorities to stay away from the wheel for the next six months or else he will face imprisonment.
Stokes pleaded guilty to the Northallerton Magistrates Court for speeding on four occasions within the last three years.
According to the Daily Mail, the English all-rounder was captured by cameras twice at the same 50mph limit section, first in August speeding at 61mph then in September driving at 75mph.
He has also previously been charged for speeding back in July 2014 and again in September last year at a 30mph zone.
His lawyer, Laura Nash, confessed that the all-rounder is embarrassed by the whole ordeal saying: “He also faces the embarrassment of having to declare the disqualification to his employers, Durham and the ECB (England Cricket Board).
“He is very much aware that this sends out the wrong message, that a professional sportsman has been captured speeding on four separate occasions.”
The 25-year-old has been fined £830 (R18 053) by the Magistrate and is prohibited to drive for the next six months.
Stokes is currently recovering from a knee injury, which he sustained in the first Test match against Sri Lanka in Leeds and has been ruled out of action for six weeks.
In April, the all-rounder was left devastated by his horror closing over of the final of the World T20 final against West Indies, where Carlos Brathwaite hit the bowler for four consecutive sixes to seal the Caribbean nation their second World T20 title.
Stokes also played an unforgettable knock against South Africa earlier this year, where he struck the second fastest double century and ended off on a career-best 258 off 198 balls in the second Test at Newlands.
His ban will be lifted on December 14, where England is scheduled to be in India for five Tests, five one-day internationals and a T20 match.
