Cape Town - There was a feeling of nostalgia at the SCG on Thursday when Steve Waugh's son, Austin, featured as an emergency fielder for Australia on the opening day of the second Test against India.
The 19-year-old allrounder sat on the boundary and carried drinks onto the field, being a part of the Australian dressing room throughout the day.
It is often the case in Test cricket that young, talented local players to be exposed to the national team environment when matches take place in their home town.
Austin represented the Australian U-19 side at last year's World Cup and is considered one of the brightest young talents currently playing out of New South Wales.
His father, Steve, is one of the greatest Australian players and captains of all time.
In 168 Test matches, Waugh scored a staggering 10 927 runs at an average of 51.06.
