Cape Town - Proteas batsman Jon-Jon Smuts was named as captain of the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants in the inaugural Mzansi Super League.
The Giants held a press conference on Thursday confirming Smuts - who has played 8 T20Is for the Proteas - as their new skipper.
The Port Elizabeth-franchise will be based at St. George's Park, while Proteas leg-spinner Imran Tahir and Englishman Jason Roy will serve as their Marquee players.

Smuts will lead the Giants in their opening fixture against the Jozi Stars at the Wanderers on Saturday, November 17.
The match starts at 19:00.
