Smith: Warner continues to grow, get better

Sydney - Australia captain Steve Smith praised David Warner after the opener smashed a century in his 100th ODI to help the Aussies beat India in the fourth game of the series Bangalore on Thursday.

The visitors, who won the toss and decided to bat, were given a fantastic start by Warner and Aaron Finch, the pair putting on a record 231 for the first wicket with the left-handed Warner notching up his 14th ODI ton.

Peter Handscomb played a late cameo innings of 43 from 30 balls to propel the Aussies to a mammoth score of 334/5.

India were also got off to great start but fell away in the middle overs as Australia clinched victory in the end by 21 runs although it was only a consolation win as India have already won the series.

Smith said after the game: "Nice to get a win in. (David) Warner and (Aaron) Finch were spectacular. They really paced the innings nicely. We lost a few wickets again (in the middle).

"It was nice to sit up there and watch Warner do his thing. His ODI form in the last two years has been unbelievable. He continues to grow and get better as a player which is what we're after.

"(Peter) Handscomb was very good at the end and it was nice little cameo from him to get us to 330. 300 wouldn't have been enough."

The Aussies will be looking to finish the series on a high when the fifth and final ODI takes place in Nagpur on Sunday.
