Cape Town - India coach Ravi Shastri says his team will be striving for consistency when they play the second Test against Sri Lanka, starting in Colombo on Thursday.

The visitors comfortably won the first Test in Galle, beating the home team by a whopping 304 runs inside four days after posting a mammoth first innings total of 600.

However, Shastri insists that are still areas for India to improve as they go in search of victory that will help them clinch the three-match series.

Shastri said on the BCCI's website: "The boys were fantastic in the last Test match but what we are striving for is improvement.

"There are still areas to improve from the last game and we have discussed that. What we want from this team as a unit collectively is consistency.

"Not just where you are good in one game and totally the opposite in the other. Your levels of consistency have to be high."

The final Test is schedule to take place in Pallekelle from 12-16 August.
