Rain delays toss in third Sri Lanka-England ODI

Kandy - Rain on Wednesday delayed the toss of the one-day international between England and Sri Lanka in Kandy, the third consecutive match of a series plagued by tropical downpours.

England lead the five-match series in Sri Lanka 1-0 after the opener was washed out, and the tourists won the second rain-shortened game.

Eoin Morgan's visiting side were awarded a 31-run victory on a faster run rate in Dambulla, after a torrential deluge at the ground last weekend.

Only 15 overs were bowled in the opening match of the series, also in Dambulla, before it was called off for rain.

A warm-up match against Sri Lanka Cricket XI side on October 6 was also canned due to monsoon rain.

England are ranked number one in ODI rankings ahead of India, while hosts Sri Lanka trail at eighth.

Weather permitting, England will also play a Twenty20 international and two Tests against Sri Lanka on the tour which runs through November 27.
