Proteas ladies claim T20 series

Cape Town - The Proteas ladies cricket side have beaten their West Indies counterparts by four runs in the third and deciding T20 International at PPC Newlands.

After captain Mignon du Preez won the toss and elected to bat, the Proteas posted a competitive 119 for 3 in their allotted 20 overs with Lizelle Lee top scoring with 33 of 23 balls and du Preez contributing 32.

The West Indies after starting well, found themselves under pressure from leg spinner Dane van Niekerk (1/16 in 4 overs) who took the important wicket of captain, Stafanie Taylor for 21.

Another West Indies batting stalwart, Deandra Dottin followed as the required run rate started to climb.

Wickets continued to fall, with Proteas fast bowler Shabnim Ismail left to defend 12 runs off the final over which she did with ease, giving the Proteas a series victory.
