Phillips the 26th SA-born player to represent a foreign country

Cape Town - Glenn Phillips has become the 26th South African-born player to represent another Test nation.

Phillips, 23, was born in East London, but moved to New Zealand at the age of five.

He made his Test debut against Australia in their New Year's Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, scoring 52 in the Black Caps' first innings.

According to cricket stats guru Andrew Samson, no fewer than 14 South African-born players have gone on to represent England, six New Zealand, three Zimbabwe, two Australia and one Ireland.
