Pakistan captain puts 'closest belongings' up for auction to help Covid-19

Pakistan Test captain Azhar Ali has put two of his most precious belongings up for auction to help the Covid-19 relief work in his country.

Azhar will put up his bat that he used to score an unbeaten triple-century against West Indies during the 2016 series in the UAE.

The 35-year-old will also auction off his playing jersey from Pakistan's title-winning 2017 Champions Trophy campaign.

Azhar wrote on Twitter: "I put 2 of my closest belongings on auction with base price of 1 million PKR each to support people suffering due to ongoing crisis.

"Auction starts now & will close on 11:59PM 05May20."

"The shirt is from 2017 Champions Trophy which we won, it has the signature of all the players which were present in the squad," Ali said in a video posted on Twitter.

"Both these things are close to my heart but if it can be used in the difficult times for the benefit of the people I will more than happy."

Plenty of cricketers have auctioned off kit during the coronavirus pandemic to help raise funds in their home countries.

England's Jos Buttler raised £65 100 by auctioning off his World Cup final jersey.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
