Cape Town - Eoin Morgan is committed to leading England through to the ICC T20 World Cup next year, according to ECB director of men's cricket Ashley Giles.

The 2019 World Cup winning captain had said he was undecided on his international future after guiding England to their first global 50-over title in May.

The 33-year-old Morgan said he was "knackered" after the World Cup success but has now committed to captain England for another year to oversee the T20 World Cup - last won in 2012.

Giles also confirmed that Joe Root will continue as Test captain regardless of who becomes the new coach after Trevor Bayliss' departure, reports Sky Sports.

The ECB hopes to appoint a replacement for Bayliss in time for the upcoming tour of New Zealand.

Giles revealed candidates for the position will be interviewed from a shortlist currently being drawn up by the ECB.

If no appointment is made before the squad departs for New Zealand, an interim coach will oversee the tour.
