Cape Town - Aiden Markram, who led South Africa to the ICC under-19 World Cup title last year, has been named to lead the SA Invitation XI in the opening game of England’s tour of South Africa later this month.

The match, a three-day fixture, will take place at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom from December 15 to 17. The match will not have first-class status as both sides will be allowed to use their full squads.

“The squad consists mainly of SA Academy players plus a few who have just started to make their mark at franchise level,” commented CSA High Performance Manager, Vincent Barnes.

“It will be a wonderful opportunity for these players to show what they can do against world-class opposition.”

SA Invitation XI: Aiden Markram (Northerns, captain), Gionne Koopman (Border), Luthando Mnyanda (SWD), Zubayr Hamza (WP), Somila Seyibokwe (Border), Heinrich Klaasen (Northerns, wickekeeper), Simon Khomari (Boland), Andile Phehlukwayo (KZN), Johannes Diseko (North West), Thandolwethu Mnyaka (Border), Junior Dala (Northerns), Ruben Claassen (Northerns).

Coach: Shukri Conrad

All 12 will play.
