Cape Town - Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has honoured former South African President Nelson Mandela on what would have been his 100th birthday.
Tendulkar illustrated the global reach Mandela had by tweeting his birthday wishes to the father of the South African nation on Wednesday.
Tendulkar, considered one of the greatest batsmen to ever play cricket, posted a photograph where he is shaking Mandela's hand ahead of a Test match.
Mandela, wearing a vintage white floppy hat in the photograph, clearly had a massive impact on Tendulkar's life.
"I was extremely fortunate enough to have met him early on in my life. So much to learn, so much to get inspired from," Tendulkar wrote.
Mandela passed away on December 5, 2013 at the age of 95.
