Lewis rejects West Indies white-ball contract

Cape Town - Batsman Evin Lewis has rejected a West Indies white-ball contract but fast bowler Kemar Roach is one of four players to have been offered all-format deals for the 2018/19 season.

The 30-year-old Roach has become the leader of the Windies' bowling over the last year having taken 41 wickets in 11 Tests at 22.58, and 10 wickets from five ODIs at 18.60 since July 2017.

Jason Holder, Shai Hope and Alzarri Joseph are the other players to get central contracts while Shannon Gabriel and Devendra Bishoo have been downgraded to just red-ball deals.

Lewis is a regular for the Caribbean side in limited-overs cricket but he has rejected a deal with the Windies, presumably to be available for T20 leagues around the world.

The Windies' big-name players such as Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Kieron Pollard, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Marlon Samuels, Samuel Badree and Darren Sammy will play on pro-rata deals based on their performances in the short term.
