Kohli fined for dissent

Dhaka - Star Indian batsman Virat Kohli was Sunday fined 30 per cent of his match fee for misconduct during Saturday's Asia Cup match against Pakistan, the International Cricket Council said.

Kohli was found to have shown dissent at an umpire's decision, said world cricket's governing boody.

The incident happened in the 15th over of India's innings when Kohli, after being given out leg before, showed his bat and then looked back at the umpire and uttered some words as he left the crease.

Kohli top-scored with 49 off 51 balls as India defeated bitter rivals Pakistan by five wickets in the Bangladesh capital Dhaka.

Kohli admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Jeff Crowe and no formal hearing was needed, said the ICC.

Such offences carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player's match fee.
