Cape Town - Speculation is rife that Dale Steyn is on the verge of joining an IPL franchise.
The 35-year-old went unsold at the auction for this year's tournament, but Indian media is now suggesting that he is on his way to what is cricket's most lucrative competition.
Steyn on Thursday posted a photograph of his passport and Indian visa to his Instagram account with the caption: "Ahhh, what's this little surprise."
While he has since deleted the post, it was online long enough for the rumours to start.
Numerous Indian publications, including the Times of India, are speculating that Steyn has been signed by the struggling Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Despite boasting superstars like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, RCB have lost all six of their matches in 2019 so far.
Steyn's inclusion, the reports add, could be fuelled by the fact that Australian fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile has returned home.
While Steyn would obviously benefit financially from any IPL deal, his participation in the tournament would obviously be a concern for Proteas management given that he is set to play a pivotal role in South Africa's World Cup charge in England this year.
