Graeme Smith celebrates birth of #BabyBiff

Cape Town - Former Proteas skipper Graeme Smith's partner, Romy Lanfranchi, gave birth to a son on Wednesday.

Smith took to social media to announce the birth of their baby, saying: "Incredibly proud and happy to welcome #babybiff to the world... Mom and baby doing so well and dad's ecstatic!"

Smith, 35, has a daughter (four) and a son (three) with estranged wife, Morgan Deane.

According to a statement released by the couple, Smith and Lanfranchi are "delighted about the prospect of being parents again and having a future together."

The couple, who were introduced through mutual friends, have been dating since the beginning of the year after Smith and Deane separated at the end of 2014.

Lanfranchi has two sons, aged eight and six, with her late husband, Michel Lanfranchi, who died of a brain haemorrhage in August 2013.

Smith played 117 Tests, 197 ODIs and 33 T20I for South Africa before retiring in March 2014.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
