Cape Town - Former Proteas opening batsman Stephen Cook has signed with Glamorgan as their overseas player for remainder of the 2018 season.
According to the county's website, Cook will deputise for the injured Shaun Marsh and will be available for Glamorgan's final four County Championship matches, starting with their away match against Derbyshire on Tuesday, September 4.
"I'm excited to join Glamorgan for the rest of the season and hopefully can help them finish the season on a positive note," said the Highveld Lions batsman.
"Glamorgan have some very talented young batsmen at the club and I look forward to joining them and offering any help I can."
The 35-year-old South African is highly experienced at both international and domestic level, having played 11 Test matches for the Proteas.
Cook has amassed over 14 000 first-class runs during his career at an average over 40 and with a highest score of 390.
"We are delighted Stephen has joined Glamorgan for the rest of our campaign. He is a proven run scorer and will add valuable experience at the top of the order," said Chief Executive, Hugh Morris.
"While we continue with our strategy of developing young pathway players it is important they play alongside experienced batsmen, like Stephen, which will help their development going forward."
