England seek change of fortunes in NZ

Cape Town - Stand-in England skipper Jos Buttler conceded that his team have been far from their best in the two games they have played in the Aussie leg of the T20I Trans-Tasman tri-series.

Buttler felt that the batting has let England down in the match at the MCG where none of the top four were able to make a meaningful contribution.

Speaking after his side's 7 wicket loss to Australia Buttler said: "It was another poor performance from us.

"We didn't quite soak up the pressure early on with the bat and then we never really kicked on.

"We never felt we had enough runs and the power of Australia proved too much."

England can still qualify for the final with just one win against New Zealand but two wins will guarantee they will go to Eden Park after the Black Caps lost the tri-series opener against Australia.

Buttler hopes that the change of country and conditions will help them change their fortunes in this tournament.

The grounds in New Zealand are smaller though the surfaces can sometimes be tricky to score on so England will need to adjust quickly.

Buttler added: "We haven't performed to our abilities yet but now we look forward to New Zealand.

"Hopefully a change of country will bring a change of fortunes."
