Cape Town - Former England skipper Sir Alastair Cook is set to join the MCC's World Cricket Committee alongside Cricket West Indies president Ricky Skerritt.
Established in 2006, the independent body is funded and administered by Marylebone Cricket Club and reports to the MCC Committee.
Chaired by another former England captain Mike Gatting, its members have all been involved in international cricket at an elite level.
The committee has a remit to discuss the most important issues within the sport and act as an independent voice in world cricket, making recommendations about the health and state of the game.
Cook is England's record run-scorer in Tests, with 12,472 from 161 matches before retiring from the international game in 2018.
The 35-year-old has continued to help guide Essex to domestic success in the Specsavers County Championship as well as carving out a role as a media pundit.
Skerritt, meanwhile, took up his position in March 2019, having formerly been the West Indies' first senior team manager before embarking upon a political career.
The appointments follow confirmation former West Indies bowler Ian Bishop, now a broadcaster, and Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan have stood down from their committee roles.
MCC World Cricket Committee chairman Gatting said: "Alastair has enjoyed a wonderful career with England over a number of years and with him still playing domestically.
"He can give insight from a current players' perspective, as well using his undisputable international experience."
Gatting added: "We have been keen for some time to appoint a new representative from the West Indies and I am delighted that Ricky will be joining us.
"His knowledge of the game from a West Indian perspective will be invaluable, and his work outside of the sport will also be advantageous to the committee."
The next MCC World Cricket Committee meeting is scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka during March, timed to coincide with England's two ICC World Test Championship matches.
