Cape Town - After the heartbreak of losing the World Cup final to hosts England, New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult is excited to get back to playing again - in a different format.
The Black Caps will get back on the field for the first time since that epic ODI finale at Lord's when they travel to Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series next month that will form part of the World Test Championship.
Boult, who bowled the Super Over in the World Cup final, feels it is a massive positive that they will be playing in a different format.
The left-arm paceman told ESPNCricinfo: "If we were getting back into one-day cricket it might drive a few of us mad after the amount we've played over the last little while.
"I think it's going to be a big positive to get back in the saddle and crack on with some Test cricket."
The Test Championship will run until 2021 with all nine Test playing nations taking part and the top two sides taking part in a final at the end of the two-year cycle.
Boult hopes to use the next few months of Test cricket to help the Kiwis build on their current status in the longest format with them being second in the Test rankings.
After the series in Sri Lanka, New Zealand will face England at home then visit Australia which includes the traditional Boxing Day and New Year Tests before facing India back on home soil.
"It's definitely exciting for us, there's a big summer schedule coming up, against some quality opposition and I know the guys are looking forward to it," continued Boult.
"We've been playing some good (Test) cricket over a very long period of time, there's a reason that we ended up at the right end of the rankings."
