Cape Town - Former Proteas all-rounder Johan Botha has been appointed as head coach of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) franchise, the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Botha, who has had previous coaching experience at the Pakistan Super League (PSL) with Islamabad United and Multan Sultans, played at the CPL - winning the title with the Trinbago Knight Riders in 2015.
Speaking of his appointment, Botha expressed his excitement on the CPL website about the challenge ahead.
"I really enjoyed my time with the Hero CPL as a player, and I can't wait to get underway as a coach," he said.
"The squad that the Amazon Warriors have put together for this year is really impressive and I am sure we will be challenging for the title at the end of the season."
Botha, 36, played for the Proteas in five Test matches, 78 ODIs and 40 T20 Internationals from 2005-2012.
The South African received his Australian citizenship last year after moving four years ago, and currently plays for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League.
The Caribbean Premier League will run from August 8 to September 16.
