Banned Aussie skipper Smith to play in Bangladesh T20

Cape Town - Banned Australian captain Steve Smith will play in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for the Comilla Victorians.

According to Cricinfo, Smith, who is serving a one-year ban following his role in the infamous Newlands ball-tampering scandal earlier this year, will join the franchise midway through the tournament as a replacement for Pakistan's Shoaib Malik.

David Warner, who is serving the same ban as Smith, has already signed for the Sylhet Sixers and he will also play in the tournament.

The duo's ban from top-flight cricket ends on March 29, 2019 and both are expected to form part of Australia's plans moving towards the Cricket World Cup in England in May next year.

The BPL gets underway on January 5 next year and it will run until February 8.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
