AB smashes 50-ball ton in Bangladesh T20

Cape Town - Former Proteas star batsman AB de Villiers smashed a century for his side, the Rangpur Riders, in their Bangladesh Premier League encounter on Monday.

The Riders, who needed 187 to win in their allocated 20 overs, were in trouble after the early wickets of Chris Gayle (1) and Rilee Rossouw (0).

De Villiers, who walked into the middle at 5 for 2, struck 8 fours and 6 sixes as he scored his first T20 ton of the tournament in 50 balls.

The 34-year-old received Man-of-the-Match for his match-winning innings as he finished unbeaten on 100.

De Villiers was in exceptional form as he took 24 balls to reach his half-century and another 26 to reach three figures.

He shared a 184-run partnership with Englishman Alex Hales (85*) as they steered the Rangpur Riders to a comfortable 8-wicket victory against the Dhaka Dynamites at Chattogram.
