Johannesburg - Johan van der Wath finished with five second innings wickets to bowl the Knights to a 211-run victory over the Warriors, on the final day of their SuperSport Series cricket match in Kimberley on Sunday.
The all-rounder ended with five for 86 adding to his four-wicket haul in the first innings to send the visitors to 313 all out in pursuit of an unlikely 525 victory target.
However, victory did not look a certainty for the hosts earlier in the day when Ashwell Prince and Arno Jacobs were together during a 144-run partnership.
They both fell in quick succession for 68 and 93 respectively as hopes of saving the match faded away.
Victory made it three wins from four as the team surged to the top of the table ahead of defending champions, the Cobras, who beat the Titans inside three days on Saturday.
The Warriors, who resumed on 72 for two overnight, lost Colin Ingram for 35 after just 15 were added, although the South Africa batsman did help Prince to extend their partnership to 51.
Jacobs then came in and looked determined to help his team save the game.
Along with Prince, they looked on course to take the visitors into lunch in a position of hope when they were still on 231 for three.
The score became 232 for five at the break with their two and a half hour partnership ended by the left-arm spin of Dean Elgar.
Jacobs was his victim, falling seven runs short of a century after a knock lasting 116 balls and included 17 fours and two sixes.
Prince followed in the next over when he was caught behind by Morne van Wyk off Van der Wath.
After the break, Athenkosi Dyili became Van der Wath’s fifth victim and the remaining four wickets fell for 77 as the home side closed out the match more than a session to spare.
