Port Elizabeth - Imran Tahir captured his 9th career 10-wicket haul to cap a great personal performance on the third day of the SuperSport Series match between the Chevrolet Warriors and the Nashua Dolphins at Axxess DSL St. George’s on Saturday.
He took 6 wickets in an innings for the second time in the match to put the Dolphins in an excellent position to strike for outright victory.
For good measure he also made an unbeaten 25 coming in at No. 11 in the Dolphins’ first innings to help the visitors secure a 38-runs advantage on the first innings.
Tahir took 6/134 in the first innings and 6/82 in the second for a match return of 12/216. He has now taken 41 five-wicket hauls in his first-class career.
The Warriors were bowled out for 169, leaving the Dolphins a victory target of 132.
By the close the Dolphins had reduced the target to exactly 100 for the loss of Devon Conway’s wicket.
Stephen Cook scored his 18th career first-class century (142 not out off 295 balls with 16 fours) in his 99th first-class match to lead the bizhub Highveld Lions fightback against the Nashua Titans at SuperSport Park.
The Lions appeared to be in the cart after Ethy Mbhalati and Albie Morkel had captured two wickets each early on the third morning to reduce the visitors to 160/6. But Cook found valuable partners in Friedel de Wet and Dale Deeb to lead a recovery to 328/8 before play was abandoned for the day.
Cook still has work ahead of him with the Lions trailing by 180 runs.
De Wet helped Cook add 94 for the eighth wicket while the ninth wicket partnership between Deeb and Cook is already worth an invaluable 53 runs.
There was once again no chance of play on the third day of the match between the Chevrolet Knights and the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras at the OUTsurance Oval.
