Cape Town - The Dolphins and Knights will be looking to end their seasons on a positive note when they clash in a Sunfoil Series match in Durban starting on Thursday.

Although the visitors blew their title prospects with defeat to the Warriors last week, there is still a mathematical chance that they can end the season with the four-day trophy.

But they will need the log-leading Titans to suffer a heavy loss to the Cape Cobras and the Highveld Lions to at least draw with the Warriors. Furthermore, the Central Franchise will need a thumping win over the Dolphins at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead.

For coach Nicky Boje, runners-up is a more a viable target for his third-placed side.

“We had two good games before that and a disappointing one against the Warriors,” he said. “It’s now the last game of the season and everyone would like to better what happened last weekend.

“It wasn’t an easy pitch, but it was also some poor execution on our part.

“Second place is still open and it will be good if the guys can finish second, so there’s still a lot to play for.”

The Dolphins slipped to fifth last week when they were beaten by the Cobras, but Boje is still expecting a tough outing in KwaZulu-Natal.

“They’ve got some match winners and they’re always a tricky side to face,” he added. “They might also be fielding a couple of guys that want to prove something. You can never take the Dolphins for granted.”

Knights strike bowler Duanne Olivier is out due to injury, with Corne Dry drafted in. Rilee Rossouw will also return ahead of Pite van Biljon.

The Dolphins have named an unchanged squad of 13 for the clash, despite losing to the Cobras last weekend.

“There were a few positives to take out of the Cobras game,” said caretaker coach, Yashin Ebrahim.

"Our bowling unit was able to hold their areas for long periods, it was just disappointing that none of our batsmen got it in. People got starts but didn’t go on.”
