Cape Town - Theunis de Bruyn again led by example as the Knights ended day one of their Sunfoil Series encounter against the Cape Cobras in charge at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the hosts were bowled out for 342, before the visitors replied with 22/0 by stumps.
De Bruyn, the new captain of the Central Franchise, top-scored with 64 (86 balls, 12 fours) and was one of two half-centurions for his team along with Pite van Biljon (55 off 98 balls, 9 fours). Last week De Bruyn hit an unbeaten 90 to take his side to victory over the Multiply Titans.
The rest of the runs came courtesy of the tail after 40s came from Robin Peterson (43), batting at seven, number eight Shadley van Schalkwyk (43), number nine Marchant de Lange (47) and number 10 Duanne Olivier (45).
The wickets were shared by the Cobras bowlers, with Tshepo Moreki the pick of the bunch thanks to his 3/83.
Matthew Kleinveldt was unbeaten on 17 at the close as the visitors trailed by 320.
