Cape Town - Dane Piedt starred with bat and ball to give the Cape Cobras the advantage over the Titans after two days of their Sunfoil Series clash at Willowmoore in Benoni on Friday.
The Cobras captain first struck 74 (116 balls, 9 fours), before grabbing three for 43 as the Cape side reached the halfway stage of the game ahead by 260 runs.
They were first bowled out for 428 and then saw the home side reply with 168 for three.
Pieter Malan, who started the day unbeaten on 103, eventually ended as the top scorer with 137 (317 balls, 12 fours, 1 six).
The opener was well supported by Piedt, before they were eventually bowled out in 119 overs.
Eldred Hawken was the pick of the home bowlers with three for 60 with Malusi Siboto (2/66), Rowan Richards (2/76) and Shaun von Berg (2/125) all picking up two wickets apiece.
The Titans lost Tony de Zorzi (14) and skipper Dean Elgar (24) cheaply, but a maiden franchise half-century by Andrea Agathangelou (51 off 89 balls, 8 fours) and Heino Kuhn’s 57 not out (90 balls, 10 fours) helped rebuild.
The pair put on 82 for the third wicket, before the former lost his wicket leaving Rivaldo Moonsamy (17 not out) alongside Kuhn at the close.
