Benoni - The Chevrolet Knights seized complete control of their Sunfoil Series clash against the Nashua Titans after Rudi Second and Dillon du Preez combined for a 253-run eighth wicket partnership, a record for the Chevrolet Knights franchise, at Sahara Park Willowmoore on Saturday.
They helped their side recover from 190-7 to 443-8 before the visitors were eventually all out for 475, with a 140-run lead in tow.
To rub salt into their hosts' wounds, the Chevrolet Knights took three wickets before the close of play to put them in a very good position heading into the final day. The Nashua Titans still trail by 116 runs after they capitulated to 24-3.
Mangaliso Mosehle was the first to fall, caught leg-before without scoring by Johan van der Wath while Pieter Malan battled for a 16-ball duck and Du Preez followed his superb batting performance with some excellent bowling.
There was no stopping Du Preez, who soon got rid of Farhaan Behardien as well as the Nashua Titans man fell for a first-ball duck to leave the home side reeling at 0-3 after just six overs.
Earlier, Du Preez had contributed 118 off 211 balls to the partnership with Second, who made 210 off 433 balls, having spent 613 minutes at the crease. Both du Preez and Second were dismissed by Von Berg.
