Knights, Lions chase bonus

Johannesburg - Reeza Hendricks and Rilee Rossouw hit half-centuries as the Knights made steady progress in the 58 overs that were possible on day two of their Sunfoil Series match against the Highveld Lions at Wanderers Stadium on Friday.

No play was possible on the opening day due to a wet pitch, and the game only got underway after lunch on day two, with the Knights advancing to 193 for two before bad light brought proceedings to a halt shortly after 5pm.

With a result looking unlikely, both teams need to pick up as many points as they can and it was the Knights who will be happier - especially after they lost the toss and were inserted by the hosts.

Hendricks put on a 58-run stand with Gihahn Cloete (33) for the first wicket, and then added 88 for the second with Rossouw.

Hardus Viljoen ended the stand when he had Hendricks caught at short cover for 62, but Rossouw moved to 67 not out before bad light intervened, while Rudi Second went to stumps unbeaten on 28.
