Centurion - The Dolphins ended the second day of their Sunfoil Series clash against the Titans holding all the aces on 68 for two in their second innings, for a lead of 306 runs after a strong display with bat and ball at Supersport Park.

The Dolphins had resumed on the second morning on 326 for six in their first innings, and skipper Daryn Smit quickly went about taking his side beyond 400, as he spanked 79 off just 76 balls, reaching his half-century off 61 deliveries.

Keshav Maharaj (30) and Kyle Abbott (22) chipped in to build a solid first innings for the visitors, whose innings finally ended when Marchant de Lange made Smit his final victim, ending with figures of three for 81.

In reply, the Nashua Titans made an encouraging start, with Jacques Rudolph (26) and Francois le Clus (42) adding 52 for the first wicket, before a double strike by Imraan Khan set them back. Khan got rid of Rudolph and the dangerous Henry Davids (4), before Abbott accounted for Le Clus.

The Nashua Titans were soon 107 for five, as Maharaj and Shezi got amongst the wickets, too, and Shezi ended the second session in style, by trapping Mangaliso Mosehle in front on the stroke of tea, with the Titans 125 for six.

The tail tried valiantly to wag for the home side, and Roelof van der Merwe (33) and Shaun von Berg (39) added 76 for the seventh wicket to stem the Dolphins dominance somewhat. But Shezi returned to get rid of the belligerent Van der Merwe, and Maharaj completed an excellent return to the side by picking up the scalps of Von Berg and then De Lange, as the Titans were bowled out for 218.

Shezi ended with figures of four for 47, and Maharaj snared three for 54, but all of the visitors' bowlers asked serious questions of the Titans' batsmen.

The Dolphins lost two early wickets in their second innings, as Rowan Richards accounted for Khan (21) and then had Khaya Zondo caught and bowled for three. Divan van Wyk (21 not out) and Vaughn van Jaarsveld (22 not out) then took the Dolphins to the close with a solid stand of 41, giving the visitors a massive lead of 306, with eight wickets still remaining.
