Cobras bundled out by Knights

Johannesburg - The Cobras were bowled out for 92 in the second innings against the Knights on day three in their domestic four day match in Kimberley, on Saturday.

It leaves the Knights chasing 110 to win on day four.

Knights bowlers Quinton Friend and Malusi Siboto each took three wickets, but it was Werner Coetsee who was chief destroyer, claiming figures of 4/13 in 10.2 overs, as the Cobras were dismissed for under a hundred runs.

Top scorer for the Cobras was Andrew Puttick with just 21 as only four batsmen reached double figures.

Earlier in the day in the Knights first innings, Reeza Hendricks brought up his eighth first-class century of his career before he was out to Dane Paterson for 123. Hendricks anchored the innings, with 108 overs at the crease, as wickets kept falling. The Knights opener was out with his side on 221 for seven, and the the last three wickets fell for nine runs with the hosts 230 all out.

In Port Elizabeth, the Lions were left chasing a mammoth 468 to win against the Warriors.

The Warriors scored 349 for nine before they declared in their second innings, with five meaningful contributions from their batsmen. Colin Ackermann was top scorer with 73.

Pumelela Matshikwe took wickets down the order to return figures of 4/57 for the visitors.

Lions opening batsman, and part-time spinner Alviro Petersen produced the best bowling figures of his career with 3/58 in 21.2 overs At the close of play the Lions had reached 69 for one, with Stephen Cook (31) and Temba Bavuma (16) unbeaten at the crease.

In Benoni, the contest between the Titans and the Dolphins was abandoned without a ball bowled in the match.

After the first two days were abandoned due to a wet outfield, the umpires took the decision on Saturday morning to call off the match completely.
