Cobras v Knights washed out

Paarl - Heavy overnight rain washed out any chance of play on the opening day of the Sunfoil Series match at Boland Park where the Cape Cobras are hosting the Knights.

With Jack Frost refusing to release his grip on the Western Cape, the umpires inspected conditions early in the day and decided that no play would be possible on the first day of the match.

Play will start at 09:30 on each of the remaining days. The worrying thing is that past experience, hopefully alleviated by improvements to the drainage system at the ground, indicates that it could take days for the outfield to be in playable condition.

More rain is expected today and tomorrow, hopefully clearing for the weekend. The teams will have to strategise on what to do in what will now be a shortened match.
